Flights

From Asia and Australia:

  • Rome is the closest one stop journey through the major Asian and Middle East hubs.

From USA:

  • Meridana airlines operates a direct flight from JFK to Naples during the summer months.

  • The fastest route is a direct flight to Rome which is offered by Alitalia, United, Delta and American.

  • Delta operates a direct flight to Pisa, though this is usually expensive and will require a very scenic 6 hr drive to the Amalfi coast.

  • The best value routes are often through any of the European hubs, with London generally being the least expensive.

From Europe:

  • You’re all so savvy, you just don’t need our advice here :)

From the Airport

You can of course rent a car and drive, but you will not want to use a car once on the Amalfi Coast --- Its like driving in a James Bond film once you hit the narrow, coastal road, but not in a fun way thanks to summer traffic!

See below for information on taxis, trains, buses and ferries from Rome & Naples.

Rome:

  • You can take a train from Rome to the Amalfi coast, too!  You'll probably want to first take a train from Rome to Naples. Trains run frequently, operated by both Trenitalia and Italotreno.  (See this helpful guide on how to take the train  in Italy for step-by-step instructions for using the website, booking, and more!). Time from Rome to Naples: 1 hr 10 mins (fastest train). One-way ticket cost to Naples: 40 Euros.  From Naples, you'll want to take a mode of transport on to Praiano, so check out the section below for how to do that!

  • Marozzi Bus from Rome to Praiano from the bus depot at Rome's Tiburtina train station.  Time: 4.5 hours.  One-way ticket cost: 21 Euro.

Naples:

  • A taxi from Naples to Praiano will cost approximately 135 Euro.

  •

  • Take the ferry!  From the port in Naples (Molo Beverello), you can catch a ferry to Positano or Amalfi (via Sorrento). A taxi from Naples airport to the ferry station will cost approximately 20 Euro, or you may take the Alibus (Get off at "Piazza Municipio").

  • Take the Circumvesuviana Train from the main Naples station, Napoli Centrale, to Sorrento (Note: From Naples airport, you can take the Alibus to the main train station.  It costs 3 Euro, leaves every 20 minutes and takes about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a taxi for approximately 15 Euro).  When you arrive at Napoli Centrale, look for the signs for the "Circumvesuviana" trains and buy tickets from the desk - The main ticket machines you see are NOT for the Circumvesuviana trains.  Approx. time from Naples to Sorrento: 1 hour. One-way ticket cost to Sorrento: 4.10 Euro.   Outside Sorrento railway station, you'll find the SITA bus which you can take to Praiano (and all other towns along the coast).

  •

Once you hit the Coast

  • At either Positano or Amalfi, you can catch a taxi or SITA bus to your hotel

  • Priano is approximately 6km/15 mins by bus from Positano and 10km/20min from Amalfi.

Getting there.

The wedding program will take place over 4 days and will be centered around the picturesque town of Praiano, which sits between Positano and Amalfi in the centre of the stunning Amalfi Coast.

The Amalfi Coast area is easily accessible through either Rome or Naples airports, with the easiest connections generally via ferry from the port of Naples or by car service. The fun (chaos) really begins once you reach the Amalfi coast itself. We’re visiting in the busiest time of year, when the crowds and traffic are legendary.
